Sun & Sand at Yas Beach

The other day I had the most wonderful time at Yas Beach in Abu Dhabi. It was the first time I’d been there and I had no idea how lovely it was!

We got a pass from our hotel here on the island, hopped on the little Yas shuttle bus and entered a pretty, cosy beach.

The large sun loungers draped with flowing blue curtains and pot plants were gorgeous. Although it was absolutely roasting hot, it was a chance for me to get my tan back so I was very grateful!

We couldn’t even walk barefoot along the sand towards the ‘sea’ without hopping, skipping and squeeling our way over.

The ‘sea’ isn’t actually real. It’s man-made, so if you ever go don’t expect to see any sea-life. It was unpleasantly warm at the shallow end, but swimming further out to the large float allowed the cooler waters to welcomely sweep past us.

With my new shoes (Aldo) and bikini (H&M), we got snap happy!

They also had a huge blow-up TV screen for watching the World Cup! Turqoise is also my favourite colour so this was kind of my perfect beach.

Even though it’s ramadan, they had a cute cafe hidden away. Although sadly no cocktails are allowed during the day, we made do with refreshing lemon and mint mocktails instead.

We didn’t last too long in the heat, so headed back to the Rotana Hotel for lunch – my favourite part of the day :D.

For starters we had an excellent prawn, avocado and mango salad. I’m looking forward to making this lots in the future. Sweet mango mixed with prawns are delicious!

Next was light and tasty grilled fish with a salad drizzled in wasabi dressing. I think wasabi is growing on me, slightly. I’ve been having so many wasabi peas at the chic Y Bar each night while watching the World Cup, their incredibly moreish! And hopefully healthier than crisps.

?????????????????????????????????????

Dessert was a very tasty date cake. Dates are a great sweet, sticky fruit as a base for sweet treats. During the month of ramadan, muslims break their fast during sunset each evening with dates and coffee, a meal called Iftar.

?????????????????????????????????????

I thought I’d balance out the cake with lots of healthy fruit.

By the way I’ve just discovered this seriously amazing remix from Banks. I can’t stop listening to it. It’s the perfect sexy, sultry summer song. Check it out!

Writing this has made me itch to get back outside, I’m off to chill by the pool and listen to this song on repeat!

Have a great Saturday everyone :).
