1. You are the source of your own happiness. Don’t rely on anyone else for it, this can lead you down a rocky road. Take control and create your own happiness.
2. Be sure of yourself. Be proud of who you are and don’t seek perfection. Take pleasure and pride in every sense of your own uniqueness, its what makes us all special. “Those who matter don’t care and those who care don’t matter”.
3. Regular exercise and healthy eating is a golden rule. Nothing will impact your life as positively as these two simple things. Feeling good on the inside makes you feel worthy, strong and empowered. It can change who you are for the better.
4. Confidence is key. It goes a long way and will benefit you in many aspects of life: relationships, career, self-esteem. Even if you don’t feel confident, fake it. Believe in yourself. If you believe that what you have to say is important, others will believe it too.
5. Step out of your comfort zone. Learning to be comfortable with the unfamiliar, whether travelling solo, giving a speech or telling that special person how you feel, it will help you grow and gain confidence. Don’t limit the adventure and excitement of life by staying in your safety bubble.
6. Don’t hold grudges, forgive and forget. Holding on to anger only achieves hurting yourself more than anyone else. A quote I loved reading is “Never regret a single character in your journey. If they weren’t part of your destination, they were just preparation” (Gurbaksh Chahal).
7. Stand up for yourself. Don’t fear speaking your mind if someone has offended or treated you with disrespect – it can be learned to express yourself calmy, with dignity and poise. Don’t ever allow anyone to cause you to cower down or avoid speaking freely. You have every right to make yourself heard.
8. Know who your true friends are – the people who want you to succeed and are genuinely happy for your success. Find friends like these, keep them close and make every effort with them.
9. Think less. Over-thinking is toxic. Analysing, churning and mulling over minute details of any conversation, thought or reaction only precludes a sense of freedom. What’s in the past is in the past, so keep looking ahead.
10. Be strong and independent. Don’t fear being alone – it’s so important to feel completely content and happy in your own company.
11. Go with your gut instinct. If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. However never be quick to judge.
12. We’re all carving our own life path to where we’re meant to be. We all learn and grow at a different pace, in different ways. Enjoy, soak in and grow from every aspect of your success or curve-ball that life may throw your way. We’re all riding lifes wave, there will be ups and downs, some real highs and real lows. We don’t know where we’ll be at the end of the path, no one can predict what will happen along the way, who you’ll meet or when the ups and downs may happen. The main thing is to keep looking forward, learn from your experiences and go with the flow. The most important thing is to just enjoy the ride :).
Beautiful. I love this.

wonderful post…but as is usual, its the implementation part which is toughest! 🙂
I know right! Far easier said than done, although writing it out, and reading it, sure helps 🙂
love this post and i totally agree Know-All that implementation is the hardest! Try waking up to them everyday…I try to write on a post-it note what i want to achieve just before bed and read it as soon as I wake up…It helps me heaps!
Great thoughts!

Something I needed to hear right now, lovely! 🙂
I just hit 20 this year! And I can definitely see the relevance of each point. As well as the timelessness. Thank you! 🙂
A great post, and one I’ll probably be coming back to more than once.
Love this! Nice to think of 20s as a time we’re riding waves – a bit of a nicer way to put it.

Beautifully written. I agree that your 20’s is about molding yourself into the person you want to become and experience all that life has to offer.
Nicely written. things people need to remember everyday!
So true and well-written! Love this
Thanks I’m so glad you love it!
Wow, if you learned all that in your twenties you’ll be a complete genius by the time you hit 50! I knew nothing in my twenties, lol.
Haha thank you! Your comment made me smile 🙂
Really wonderful list. =) Not enough people in their 20s do #3. It’s usually after suffering from the way they ignored their body that they tend to it later in life.
If it interests, this post where I share the lessons from my 30s launched my blog. =)
