I love experimenting with new workouts and food routines. I’ve been reading a lot about the best juice detoxes and all their benefits, so finally decided to try it for myself – a total 3 day juice detox. This was from an app called 3 Day Detox – Juice Master. It’s by the “Juice Master” Jason Vale, promising me I’d lose 3 pounds in 3 days.
It’s “designed to furnish the system with optimum nutrition without putting a burden on the digestive system.”
Could you go 3 days with no actual food?! I asked myself. Eek. As someone who can’t imagine a day without breakfast, and feels light-headed after a few hours without eating, I was slightly nervous. I’m also always up for a challenge, so I cleared my schedule for 3 days and bought enough fruit & veg to feed a small army. Bring it on!
Normally I’m quite skeptical about any form of ‘diet’ as eating in moderation is really key. I believe in eating unprocessed food as much as possible. Avoiding eliminating food you enjoy, as life is too bloody short! But knowing this wasn’t a long term ‘diet’, and after having a period of eating a lot of processed foods, I was intrigued to see what the results would be.
Here’s the low-down on the app’s instructions. (I do recommend buying the app for yourself though, as there’s videos, pictures and extra features which are helpful to follow):
My 3 Day Juice Detox
- For all recipes, simply put all ingredients in a juicer. Where avocado is required, you’ll need a blender too.
- When using avocado and ice – first make the juice, then put the avocado flesh in a blender, followed by the juice and ice cubes.

My 3 Day Juice Detox Verdict
I did in fact lose 3 pounds. The juice portions were BIG! It actually took me a while to drink each one. Perhaps that was because I wanted to savour every sip before having to wait for my next juice. The juices were filling and freakin’ delicious. It didn’t taste like I was eating a mountain of vegetables at all. I wasn’t starving either.
I loved the avocado-based drinks that were oh so creamy and comforting. Don’t skip the ice cubes – it was so refreshing to drink the juices while cold.
At times I certainly felt low on energy/zombie-like and unable to string a sentence together (hint: skip the date or girly catchup sesh). I was rather headachy (make sure you drink lots of water!), although this may have sadly been to my lack of caffeine..
Unfortunately I didn’t feel up for doing much exercise (or moving at all to be honest), never mind an Insanity workout that was a regular part of my routine.
However by the end I felt completely cleansed and flushed from any toxins (great if you’ve just been on a junk food binge!). My stomach was flatter than ever and my skin was particularly clear. Also, as many people agree, your sugar cravings do disappear (win!) and you generally feel motivated to continue a ‘clean and green’ eating routine. At least for a while anyway…
Overall I was happy with the results and recommend giving it a go if you really want to lose a few pounds quickly. BUT trust me, the few pounds you’ve lost will come right back at ya once you start eating normally again.
I loved trying out new delicious juices/smoothies and getting good use of my juicer. Since doing this I’ve made the avocado-based juices several times at the weekends. It is definitely my go-to hearty health drink 😃.
Tips:
- It helps to do it with someone, these things are always better and more fun with a buddy.
- The drinks can take a while to make, especially when you have to use a blender as well. Don’t do it if you have a busy 3 days, and be prepared to do a lot of washing up!
- The juicer I used was excellent – simple to use and easy to clean compared to other brands – Philips HR1869/00 Avance Juicer.
Let me know how it goes if you give it a go! xx
Ah, if I feel as good as you after my two day detox, I’m gonna make it a monthly thing.
Boy…that sounds tough especially if you have to go outside home to work… 🙂
I just finished a similar 3 day detox and agree that during the time I was tired and headachy but by the end I was really happy with the results! I didn’t miss sugar at all but surprisingly I found myself craving salt. Off to make a smoothie for lunch now. 🙂
Hi Melissa-
First off- How does that avocado juice? I just imagine ii yucking up the blade!
I actually loved doing a 3 day juice “fast”. Much more than I thought and enough that I will maybe do it a couple times a year. I did find it bumped up my grocery budget buying so much organic produce at once. But it was worth it.
And I agree- the cravings have shifted and the first bite of apple pie I had made me almost cringe as it was so sweet. It was interesting.
I went to my first dinner party last night after now 3 weeks of no sugar, dairy, wheat, alcohol and very little meat. I had champagne, red wine, fois gras, cassoulet, variety of cheeses, cannelles and dessert. It all tasted wonderful but felt like a bomb in my stomach. A good walk took care of it but this morning I’m a little groggy!
cheers, wendy
Yum yum yum~
That’s sounds tough!! Kudos for staying strong all three days
Thank you for the visit and deciding to follow me.
I did this once it really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
