After several weeks of traveling, over-indulging and losing track of my exercise routine (woops!) it’s time for me to jump back on the fitness bandwagon and start working out again, especially now that I’m back offshore – no excuses! And it is literally what keeps me sane.
It’s never easy to get back in to it though. I normally have to get myself motivated again by browsing through inspiring fitness photos and quotes.
I thought a fun goal would be to submit myself for the Women’s Health 2014 Cover Girl. I’ll take the photos after 1 month, so the clock is ticking! It really helps to have an aim. After all, it’s almost summer time, and that’s good enough reason to make sure we are looking our best! There’s nothing like feeling confident and sexy on the beach.
I absolutely love this little motivating speech from The Wishing Star blog’s comment that I found on pinterest:
“Set your alarm for 6am. Don’t groan when it goes off and pull the covers over your head, get up and start your day. Put on a baggy top and running shorts. Go downstairs and pour yourself a nice big glass of ice water. Cut up some fruit and mix it in with yogurt. Add some granola. Now go outside. Stretch for 10 minutes. Skip for 5 minutes. Jog for 10 minutes. Run for 10 minutes. Walk back. Lay out a towel on the ground and lie down on it. Do 50 crunches. Yes, they hurt, but they are 100% worth it. When you’re done, get in the shower. Use a nice smelling shampoo and matching conditioner. Shave your legs and wash your body. Exfoliate your face. Get out of the shower and let your hair air dry. Look in the mirror. Do you like what you see? If you do, good for you. Do this every day and you will continue to love yourself. If you don’t like what you see, do this every day and pretty soon you will. Being lazy might feel good at the time, but being active feels better in the long run. How badly do you want it?”
Here are some great images from tumblr, weheartit and fitness blogs that can hopefully help you as well as me, to stay determined and kick-start a fitness regime. It’s never too late!
That’s right..no excuses! 🙂
Here’s a great article from Women’s Health (can you tell I love this magazine?) called What to Do When You Fall Off the Fitness Bandwagon.
Good luck and thank you, my wife’s just made a note of all that.
That’s so great! Love that 🙂
thanks for the post! my fiance and i just got back from travelling and we gained about 2-3 kgs in 3 weeks. not helpful at all since we’re preparing for a wedding too!
You’re welcome! That happens to me all the time..it’s a bit rubbish but totally worth every delicious bite of local food when you’re travelling! You can always bounce back once in a routine again :).
definitely. 🙂 we dont get to visit a country and eat their food everyday anyway.might as well seize the moment and not count the calories 😉
Great inspiration! I recently got back on the bandwagon and have been working out 5 days a week for a month, here’s hoping I can stick to it! Good luck!!
Wow that’s amazing! Well done 🙂 I’m going to start with working out every other day, atleast 30 mins of hard cardio..let’s see how that goes. Keep at it!
Gotta love Pinterest for fitness inspiration, although I sometimes feel like I spend too much time motivating myself on Pinterest and less time actually working out! ha I’ve also recently got back on the bandwagon as I have major exams coming up, and I go mad without exercise! Keep it up 🙂
Haha that’s so funny because it’s so true! Good point, maybe more time running and less time looking at people doing it :p Revision with no exams is like torture, good luck! 🙂
Awesome and inspiring post! I’m trying to get healthier!
