My sister just recently got engaged! My sister is my best friend. We’re like two peas in a pod, so I am beyond happy and excited for her and her fiance. They make the most adorable couple. As soon as my sister told me (and after a lot of girly squeeling and tears of joy) I logged in to Pinterest and got cracking with pinterest wedding plans!
Pinterest is honestly one of the greatest things on the internet. If you’re in need of any form of inspiration, then look no further. All the images are there for you to pin on to your very own organised dream-boards.
This post is for me to document and share with you my favourite wedding inspiration images. They are beautiful ideas for my sisters wedding, even my wedding (ok, this is so far in the future but I’m a girl in my 20’s, so what am I gonna do) and possibly your future wedding too :).
My sisters favourite colour is purple, so if we were to go with a purple theme, this is what I’d imagine..
First of all I’d prepare her a breakfast of mini little treats. Waffles, pancakes, strawberries.
She could nibble on these while I prepare the king of all sweet treats, it’s our all-time favourite, soft, crunchy-sweet, gooey and totally addictive..wait for it…cinnabon rolls. It would be a crime not to indulge on your wedding day, and how incredibly good do these look?! I can’t wait to try out the recipe (with a post to follow!).
This dark-purple themed wedding has a decadent feel to it. I like the idea of the bride wearing deep-purple coloured shoes instead of traditional white, that would match the groom’s tie. And I’d be quite happy wearing the lacy number as a bridesmaid dress!
A more bright and fresh look could be created with simple purple and white flowers dotted around the venue, like this lavendar bush placed in a wheelbarrow. The bouquet of flowers is gorgeous in contrast with the white dress.
Purple macaroons. Need I say more? I’m pretty much obsessed with them now. The moment I sinked my teeth in to a perfectly crispy on the outside, yet soft in the middle, pistachio-flavoured Laduree macaroon, there was no going back. I’d make sure to order a plentiful supply of Laduree macaroons, placed beautifully on the table-surfaces throughout the venue, for the guests to nibble on.
There are just so many gorgeous ways to throw in purple without over-doing it.
Purple writing for the invitations and name-cards are a wonderful touch.
Purple-infused cocktails. I’m thinking a lavendar variety using monin violet syrup, or blue cucarao paired with cranberry juice.
In any case, making cocktails is my forte and I will take these very seriously!
Now for the actual venue. I always thought a perfect wedding venue would be an outdoor, garden setting, over looking a beach. (That’s kind of specific, I know). I’m imagining the scent of fresh flowers being carried by the soothing sea breeze, which gently ripples through the brides hair. The subtle sounds of the waves crashing on the shore would set the mood for a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. It would be perfect. Surely that’s not asking too much is it?!
The twinkling trees below would be such an alluring, romantic aisle to walk through.
I also can’t get enough of things in jars. Flowers in jars, smoothies in jar, desserts in jars. It’s such a simple, convenient idea and creates a rustic presentation that just makes me happy.
Talking about rustic, I think rustic-garden-vintage themed weddings are beautiful.
Dining on long, thick wooden tables decorated in large, white bouquets of flowers, on top of a white table runner. It’s all about the small details, like these hanging lightbulbs that would look wonderful at night.
I love the contrast of wood with colourful flowers. It creates a bohemian, forest feel that seems mystical and special to me.
Or perhaps a more elegant, decadent dining setting with white table-cloth and crystal glasses. In any case, it’s all about the lighting in the evening. Twinkling tea-lights and floating candles makes for a gorgeous atmosphere.
This one is more of a vintage-barn theme which I also adore.
How cute are these his and hers signs. I need to find them!
You can never have too many flowers at a wedding. At the entrance, the guests could feast their eyes on a table decorated with a stunning flower arrangement like below, with whites, peaches and purples in silver and blue vases.
Also I’m a big fan of having a large table of canapes, cakes and sweets. As well as the fact that it’s guaranteed almost every guest will appreciate this, they’re also a visual treat.
Alternativaly instead of an ‘occasion table’, it could be a bookshelf of treats. This is a fun and different idea that guests would enjoy.
The washing line photo frame is such a great idea. It’s so simple to make and very effective as an entrance feature. The guests could bring their favourite photo of the couple and hang it up as they enter the venue.
Now for the fun part, the cake! Can you imagine my delight at discovering that there are so many Laduree inspired cakes? I’m positively salivating at the sight of this.
However I like the idea of a non-traditional wedding cake, such as a tier of cupcakes or macaroons. It would be less messy that’s for sure, and each cupcake could be uniquely and ornately designed. Aren’t these just the prettiest things you’ve seen?
Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten the dress! As soon as I saw this one, I didn’t even look further. Ok maybe I did because Pinterest is addictive.
It is beauuuutiful. Perhaps a little too sexy for a wedding though. We don’t want to give any of the elderly a heart attack now do we, as it’s definitely a show-stopper.
These are also stunning. Oh I can’t wait to get married myself so I can slip on one of these and instantly feel like a goddess. I don’t think I’d ever want to take it off.
I’m sure writing vows is a stressful part for any couple. These words are so special, the kind that brings a lump to your throat and makes you wish you had written them yourself.
Here’s a great wedding gift that I’d love to get for my sister. I have a whole stack of ideas, but I won’t post them on here as she’ll be reading this. I can’t give it all away, every sibling should have a few surprises up their sleeve for the special day after all!
What do you think? Do you have any other pinterest wedding ideas to share?
Congratulations to your sister!
Thanks! I’ll pass it on to her 🙂
Agreed re Pinterest … I can spend hours on there looking up stuff ! Great selection. Love the plate calendar.
How exciting!! Congrats to your sister! I’m Pinterest obsessed. I recently went to the Anthropologie BHLDN Wedding Fair and it was just like your pictures. Flower crowns are so popular now for weddings. & I love the plate as a gift, very unique!
Thanks I will tell her! Me too, it’s pretty much the best way to procrastinate. ever. Wow lucky you! I would love to go to that fair! I definitely want a flower crown when I eventually get married :).
