I’ve always dreamed of going to a beautiful secluded island where you sleep in bamboo huts meters away from the ocean. Where there’s nothing to do but lounge in hammocks all day, sip cocktails and get completely engrossed in a book.
This is exactly what we did at Sangat Island Dive Resort, the only resort on the tiny Sangat Island in Palawan (close to Coron). It’s described as one of the ‘best kept secrets of eco-conscious paradise-seekers and scuba diving enthusiasts throughout the world.’
I booked Sangat Island Dive Resort as a surprise birthday treat for my boyfriend. It was the perfect place to spend a few nights before heading back to Manila.
Here’s a glimpse of our lovely native-style beach cottage.
With this gorgeous view right outside our window..
When we hopped off our speed boat, we were greeted by the resort host who gave us a tour of the property. It felt so special to be staying at a tiny, private island.
On one side of Sangat Island Dive Resort, there’s a rickety wooden path that leads you to what feels like a secret beach. We never saw any one else on this little section of the island.
There were set meal times and afternoon snacks each day. All inclusive of the price. It was actually so nice not having to choose what to eat for a change, and gave the place a more homely atmosphere.
Each meal was absolutely delicious. Hearty portions with plenty of fluffy white rice. It’s exactly what you want after a day of diving (or doing nothing but frolic on a beach).
There are plenty of activities to do from the resort if you get bored of sipping cocktails or smoothies in your hammock (not possible, I know).
Of course you can go diving, where conveniently there are 11 Japanese shipwrecks only minutes away from the island by boat. You can also go jet-skiing or nature trekking.
My boyfriend made the most of all the diving he could physically do each day, while I kept an eye on the beach. A very important job.
The evenings were glorious. We’d climb up to a large viewing deck to enjoy the most spectacular sunsets.
Paradise.
It was the perfect place to totally unwind, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Sangat Island Dive Resort in Palawan would actually make an ideal honeymoon destination. You can make reservations here xx
This just looks amazing, and the kind of holiday I daydream about! Glad you had a lovely time x
